"Egrets in Sunshine" (18 x 24" - Oil) This painting was my first commission and is based on a photograph by Jim Ryser. It is similar to one I did earlier, but with more color.
"Mountain Morning" (12 x 24" - Oil)
"Full Measure of Devotion" (11 x 14" - Oil) - The title comes from a phrase in the Gettysburg Address. Daniel Chester French's statue makes a good study.
"Charleston Shadows" (24 x 12" - Oil) - The man in the background is relaxing and reading. A great way to spend the day in Charleston.
"Winter Rest" (12 x 24" - Oil) - I based this painting on a photograph I took of a beautiful home in Sanford, NC.
"Stroll" (24 x 12" - Oil) - While taking a stroll, the girl notices a bird on a tree branch; however, her cat also is quite interested in the bird as well.
"Longing" (14 x 11" - Oil) - I based this painting on a photograph that I took of an old Edsel at a dealership. In this painting, I contrast the Edsel with the sportier Corvette in the background. The title of the painting expresses the "longing" of the practical station wagon for the fun of the sports car.
"Dance of Nature" (18 x 24" - Oil) - This painting is based on a photograph by Jim Ryser. Although it shows up more clearly on the original, I love the ripples in the water.
"Summer Sail" (16 x 20" - O il) - Few sights are more beautiful than the combination of sky, water, and sails.

"Old Salem Rug Maker" (14 x 11" - Oil) - This painting is meant to be a companion piece to the "Old Salem Potter" (see below). I based it on a photograph by Bill Russ, with his kind permission. I later learned that Mina Brown is the name of the woman in the painting.
"Jennifer and Bunny" (18 x 24" - Oil) - Our niece Jennifer. It was fun painting the satin dress covered by the pink net on the princess dress.
"Ominous Voyage" (14 x 18" - Oil) I've always loved tall ships and lighthouses. I did a lot of detail work on the ship.

"Old Salem Potter" (14 x 11" - Oil) - I based this painting on a photograph by Ginny Connolly-Manhardt, which she took at Old Salem. The great Dutch Baroque artist Johannes Vermeer often placed his subjects near the light of a window. After completing the painting, I had the opportunity to meet Mike Fox, the potter at Old Salem, and show him my painting.
"Bright Bouquet" (14 x 11" - Oil) - These were altar flowers left over one Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church. I brought them home and put them in a pot beside a window to create this painting. Again, I like the effect of the light.

"Self Portrait 2009" (14 x 11" - Oil) - Portraits are usually the most difficult type of painting to create, so I thought it wise to practice on myself.
